The most basic definition of prayer is “talking to God.” Prayer is not meditation or passive reflection; it is direct address to God. It is the communication of the human soul with the Lord who created the soul. Prayer is the primary way for the believer in Jesus Christ to communicate his emotions and desires with God and to fellowship with God.
Bible study is the practice of examining God's Word in order to understand it and be changed by it. Christians do this because they trust what God himself says about his Word, including: God spoke it, so all of it is profitable (2 Tim 3:16 ; 2 Pet 1:21 )
The five-fold ministry is found in Ephesians 4:11, and it refers to the five roles that God has called Christians to fill. These roles are (1) apostles, (2) prophets, (3) evangelists, (4) pastors, and (5) teachers.
Among other things, we believe that the Bible is the inspired written word of God and that it is relevant to us now.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary; that he died on the cross, that he was buried; that he rose the third day and that he ascended into Heaven.
We believe that eternal salvation is possible through repentance from sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that holiness is necessary for final salvation.
We believe that the true believer has powers over all the works of the devil. We believe that God still performs miracles through His children.
believe that the Holy Spirit makes it possible for the believer to fulfil God’s purpose here on Earth.
So, what is the church, really?Let’s start with what it’s not. A church is not a building. Yes, Central has a beautiful old building. Yes it’s a testament to the devotion that generations have invested in our congregation.But Central is far more than just a building. Central is a community of believers. “Where two or more are gathered in the name of Jesus, we have a church.” Many believe that church must occur in a building with a steeple. Church can occur on a beach. It can occur at a kitchen table or in a family room. It can occur in a park or a coffee shop. It can occur over the telephone or online. Church is two or more people coming together in the name of Christ, to show their love for each other, for their communities, for their friends, for their neighbours and for their enemies.
